Chapter 7 Herman decides to quit his job after being persuaded not to move to Kentucky. Mrs. Wishnow and Seldon are the ones being moved instead of the Roths to Danville, KY where Phillip is so happy that he helps Seldon move. Walter Winchell continues to make radio comments against Lindbergh until he loses his radio job. When he does, he announces his plan to run for presidency. Former President Franklin D. Roosevelt decides to come out of political retirement and run for a third term as well as others who run for president. Rabbi Bengelsdorf and Aunt Evelyn get married with Herman and Bessie not invited (Bessie then cried) based on their opinions of President Lindbergh and the Republicans. The Lindberghs invite Evelyn and Rabbi Bengelsdorf to the white house for a white house dinner with the German foreign minister. The FBI came back to the Roths but this time it would be to ask questions to Uncle Monty if he had said anything about President Lindbergh or how Alvin was doing as well as if Herman said anything about Lindbergh and his allies as well as threatening to take Herman away from his family. Uncle Monty (to help his brother) gave the FBI a envelope and had money and then the FBI left (he bribed them). Phillip started to think about Seldon more ever since he left. He would recall a time when he was locked in Seldon's bathroom and couldn't get out. Mrs. Wishnow would tell him to open the door knob another way. Phillip would then accidently turn the bathwater on and it would start to run. Eventually Seldon opened the door and the Mrs. Wishnow comforted Phillip. It compares to what the U.S. is going through right now when Lindbergh takes over as president (locked door) the Jews stressed and don't like Lindbergh (ones locked in bathroom) america becomes fascist (running water) and eventually someone or something will put an end to all of this and will save the jews (someone opening the door from the outside).Walter Winchell meanwhile continues his campaign around the U.S. since he was one of Lindbergh's biggest critics. However because of the growing anti-semitism, Winchell is booed and threatened with death almost everywhere he goes in the U.S. Eventually, America's "Kristallnacht" happens in Detroit where the gentiles think the Jews are trying to takeover U.S. and are becoming a threat to the American community. To prevent Newark to deal with a "Kristallnacht" the city creates a "Jewish police" to help protect the Jews from violence. Walter Winchell campaigns in Danville, Kentucky when he and others get assassinated by Nazi supporters. Since Seldon and Mrs. Wishnow lived there, Bess calls the Wishnows to make sure their alright. When Seldon picks up, Bess asks like when Mrs. Wishnow would get home. Seldon said that she hasn't arrived yet and she usually arrived at 5 when it was already 5:50. If Mrs. Wishnow was shot and killed, Seldon would be all by himself and meaning that the pro-Nazi supporters are after the Jews in Danville, KY. WIth continuing violence around the U.S. it seemed the Jews were about to face what the Jews were dealing with in Nazi Germany.
